We'll be taking the summer off from our Webster's Wine Bar performances (a little summer R&R!) but will be back with a bang in September! Upcoming Submission Deadline!

Our next submission deadline for 2nd Story stories is coming up on June 1st. You can find guidelines and information here.

Please join us for the 2nd STORY WORKSHOP AT UPTOWN WRITER'S SPACE!

This workshop outlines the elements of a 2nd Story story, the different writing and performance techniques used, and how we get them on (and then off!) the page. Open to everyone regardless of writing and/or performance experience, this workshop is for people looking to enhance their storytelling skills, be it for the stage or just out and about (and tipsy) with your friends.

Strongly suggested for people looking to submit to 2nd Story.

2nd Story: Pilcrow Lit Fest

2nd Story is thrilled to be a part of this year's Pilcrow Lit Fest with a late night performance at Strawdog Theatre featuring Nick Ward, Kim Morris, Deb Lewis, CP Chang and Megan Stielstra. Thursday, May 21st. 3829 N. Broadway, doors open at 10:30. Tickets available here.

Pilcrow Lit Fest brings writers, poets, librarians, booksellers, and publishers from aroudn the country together in supprt of small presses and independent media through small workshops, panel discussions, lectures and readings.

2nd Story: Literary Death Match

Opium's Literary Death MatchOh, you guys. This is gonna be soooo good.
Last February, 2nd Story's Megan Stielstra kicked some ass at the Chicago edition of Opium's Literary Death Match. This month, Death Match is back for a special Pilcrow edition, pitting some of Chicago's premier reading series' against each other. 2nd Story's own Bobby Biedrzycki will rep 2nd Story, and we hope you'll join us to watch him bring it home (cocky, are we? General Theatre Studies Program with the Goodman Theatre

In an ongoing collaboration with the Goodman Theatre, Serendipity is thrilled to be a part of this summer's General Theatre Studies program, working with sixty+ high school students on their own performance storytelling. For the 7th year, Serendipity Theatre Collective is proud to present our annual 2nd Story Festival at Webster’s Wine Bar. This year promises to be our biggest and best yet, with three weeks of expertly crafted stories, each one paired with a taste of wine and live music for our city’s top DJs and musicians. 12 nights, 54 stories and 5,000 glasses of wine. 2nd Story Collaborates with Theatre Seven
2nd Story is proud to announce an exciting collaboration with Theatre Seven of Chicago. Join us at their remounted production of smash hit Diversey Harbor, named one of the Top 5 Shows of 2007 by Newcity Chicago. At select performances, 2nd Story storytellers will engage audiences with tales set in and around Chicago. A quintessential Chicago play meets classic Chicago stories! 2nd Story Storytelling Workshop

On April 11th, 2nd Story directors Amanda Delheimer and Megan Stielstra offer a 2nd Story Storytelling Workshop, working through the initial stages of getting your story both on and off the page.12-3 pm at the Serendipity Studio, 4043 N. Ravenswood #224. FREE and open to the public with limited seating. Our apologies, but all seats in the 2nd Story workshop have been filled.
